"News: Longer School Hours 'Will Harm Families'." The Observer: 4. International Newspapers. Apr 01 2007. Web. 19 Oct. 2011.

Families believe that longer school hours will affect their bonds with their children. They believe that they don't get enough time with their children already, since school is about 8 hours and the parents also have work, they barely  see each other. Even so, most people view longer school hours as practical and even economical for the future. More school hours mean that more time to learn, but it will only be effective if the teacher is great, if not then it will just be a waste of time and money.

"Teacher Tenure a Thorny Issue, but some Say it Improves Teaching." Inland Valley Daily Bulletin: n/a. California Newspapers. Nov 22 2009. Web. 19 Oct. 2011 .

With tenure, teachers might start to slack, once they know that they won't be fired, which affects the students learning. Teachers believe that tenure improves teaching, since it motivates them a lot more. Although that is not always the case, some teachers who get tenure might not be even effective in running a classroom.

"Do Grades Or Standardized Test Scores make the Student?" The Washington Post: T.6. U.S. National Newspapers. Apr 10 2008. Web. 19 Oct. 2011
Most students now a days are studying for the grades, not to learn, because of how the school system runs, teaching to the test, not learning with a passion. School standards need to be changed, so that students would be willing to learn, it feels as if schools are there for the money and are not worried about the future.
