Fixing America's Educational System: It's Clear That Government Alone Cannot Correct All the Problems

"Fixing America's Educational System: It's Clear that Government Alone Cannot Correct All the Problems." Barret, Craig. Cal-Tax Digest. January 2005. Web September 29, 2011.

America's Future is defined by the children's education, but not all Americans are getting the right education when the school system's standard is not high enough, or it is easily achieve. Other nations are surpassing America in the most important and most valuable aspect of the future, education. Most of America's workers are coming overseas to take advantage of the new jobs that are being created, for those who are born in America, they are letting opportunities come and go, by not sticking to education. Although, we can not blame the people for everything, we must also blame the government, they are focusing too much of the present economy, rather than our future. For example they spend more money on prisons, rather than education.

Why Is Torture Wrong?

"Why Is Torture Wrong?" Manzi, Jim. The American Scene. April 27, 2009. Web. September 29, 2011.

The Torture controversy leaves a big question on the American Military's moral values, but does war have any morals at all? War brings destruction and death, torture is part of that. Torture is necessary in war, it gives the military information, it maybe risky and immoral but who's to say what is right or wrong in combat, there is no good or bad in war, just devastation.

It's Not Torture and It Is Necessary

"It's Not Torture and It Is Necessary." Rabbi Aryeh Spero. Human Events. January 16, 2007

Guantanamo Bay is not a torture site but a coercion. And it only applies to those who may have information on the whereabouts of infamous terrorist or their hideouts. U.S. "tortures" to save lives unlike the terrorists who torture for sadistic reasons.

Torture? It probably killed more Americans than 9/11

"Torture? It probably killed more Americans than 9/11." Patrick Cockburn. The Independent. April 26, 2009

Torture is ineffective, as well as counter-productive- Major Alexander. American soldiers who perform tortures, produce little or no progress in gathering information. Those who are tortured rarely give out real information, and often give out locations that are booby-trapped.

In Class Debate On The Creation Of Cultural Center Near Ground Zero Reflection

At the beginning of class I really did not know how the discussion will start but it was started by an argument by those who oppose the creation of the Cultural Center. Most of their arguments are mostly about how the Muslims should respect the families of the victims, and they said that they have nothing against Muslims. My team   argued that its their right, its part of freedom of religion and it will help get rid of hated. The opposing team said that how can they trust an Islamic Center if the Quran says to kill or convert non Muslim people, but that is the radical form of Islam, meaning they are stereotyping Muslims. Another argument is why do they call it Mosque when it is a Cultural Center that is started by a Muslim? Any faith and anyone is welcome, so why stereotype it? Because of ignorance and hatred. Overall I still believe that the Cultural Center should be built and that people need to get over Islamophobia.
